Regional language film festival is going to be conducted from September 21 to September 23 in Mangaluru. This fest would be conducted by Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy, St Aloysius College and Department of Information and Public Relations (Karnataka).

As per the coordinator of the film festival, movies in different regional languages of Karnataka will be showcased at the fest. These regional languages include Tulu, Kannada, Konkani, Banjara, Kodava, and Beary languages.

The coordinator further said that the movies are selected on the basis of their mass appeal as well as the state and national level awards won by them. According to him, this film festival is majorly meant to attract youth towards these regional language films and help them understand the language as well as culture of different Karnataka regions.

Even the least spoken regional languages also convey important messages for today’s society. Hence, such films should definitely be watched.

According to the coordinator, the film festival will witness the presence of Rishabh Shetty, Nagatihalli Chandrashekar, Shivadhwaj, Chairman of the Academy and all the directors and producers of the films, which are going to be showcased at the festival.

He also said that the film screening would after having detailed interactions with the movie directors. Basically, it is a way to spread awareness about the languages and help people recognize as well as learn new language. Film festivals are a good source of language promotion.
