The Bollywood diva Priyanka Chopra is set to produce her next regional language movie, titled as Paua, which is a Sikkimese-Nepalese film. Her earlier projects included Punjabi, Bhojpuri and Marathi movies, and now she would be starting with her new assignment with her mother Madhu Chopra.
PeeCee desires to widen the scope of regional cinema and thus, she is searching for local talent from Sikkim and Nepal. Reports often suggest that regional language and regional cinema should definitely be promoted as it gives new opportunities to creative talent in our nation.
Up till now, her production house has worked upon three language movies – Marathi film (Ventilator), Bhojpuri film (Bam Bam Bol Raha Hai Kashi) and Punjabi film (Sarvann). The Punjabi movie is also known to have a special ‘shabad’ which has been sung by late Dr. Ashok Chopra (Priyanka’s father).
When she visited India, she shared that she would be announcing five path-breaking, content-driven and small-budget movies in regional languages. She also said that she want a maximum stories to be told by local talent performing and speaking in their respective regional tongues.
If reports are to believed, it is said that the film would tell the story about two young children, who, at the time of unrest at the India-Nepal border, get separated from their parents.
