  • Testing For 5G Services to Gear Up By Next Year, Says Verizon

Verizon is hoping to start the field testing of 5G services by next year. According to the company, the next-generation devices (through 5G services) would experience the signal latency of some milliseconds.

It would also make it easier to manage a larger number of Internet-enabled devices.

To make 5G a reality, Verizon has teamed up with various technology companies, such as Nokia, Alcatel-Lucent, Qualcomm, Cisco, Samsung and Ericsson.

Few months back, Verizon won the deal worth $4.4 billion and now such an effort for the fifth generation services is truly amazing. This will definitely add to the rich fabric of users’ digital lives.

In many parts of the country, it has been observed that mobile phone carriers are still making efforts to roll out 4G infrastructure. This indicates that still, most of the population is using 3G networks. It means it would take several years before the 5G services launches in the market in any meaningful way.

Most of them also do not understand the difference between 1G, 2G, 3G, 4G and 5G services.

To instantly drive the development of 5G, Verizon would be creating shared network (5G) environments in Waltham and San Francisco where the organizations will collaborate to bring the new generation of communications technology to life.

If Verizon actually initiates the field testing by next year, then might be the commercial launch of 5G services may held by 2019.
