  • Phones Will Have Compulsory Panic Button and GPS by 2017 and 2018

From 2017 and 2018, the mobile phones will be available with inbuilt GPS and panic buttons to ensure women safety and an easier human life. While panic buttons will be made compulsory from 2017, the inbuilt GPS would be obligatory from 2018.

It is said that the panic buttons will make the emergency calls easier for the users.

In an official notification, it was mentioned that all the mobile phones sold in India should have panic buttons from 2017. These buttons should invoke emergency call.

This implies that no phone would be sold in India without the provision for a panic button (from 2017). It is said that by long pressing the button, one would be able to make an emergency call. Further, by short pressing the on or off button, 3 times successively, emergency calls would be made.

Talking about the GPS system, it would be mandatory from 2018. Thus, every phone would be required to have inbuilt GPS.
