The new mantra for BJP leaders – increase social media followers or forget about UP polls. All the BJP leaders wishing to get tickets in the UP polls are told that the number of social media followers would be considered as one of the most important factor for the eligibility in 2017 Assembly UP polls.
It is said that the leaders should have 25,000 followers or likes on social media. This news has shaken all those leaders who possess little or no followers on the social media platform.
In line with the reports, Shamli MLA has 12,856 followers on Facebook, while BJP’s state president has almost 10,000 followers on Twitter. He seems quite confident to reach the target in the period of 3 months.
Further, BJP’s Bijnor MP has a total of almost 2,986 friends. Also, he doesn’t have a fan page on Facebook. BJP MP from Meerut has 13,957 likes.
A member quoted that the popularity of any leader is judged by the quality of work done in his particular area and not by the Facebook or twitter followers. Also, not all leaders have accounts on social media.
