The most beautiful reserve to the east of Haridwar, Rajaji National Park is located in Dehradun, Pauri Garhwal, and Haridwar districts of Uttarakhand. Spread across 820.42 sq. km. of area, the park beautifies the Shivaliks, in the vicinity of Himalayan foothills. It is heaven for nature as well as adventure lovers, who visit here to experience the wildlife closely. It is situated in a transition zone between central Himalaya and moderate western Himalaya, which boosts the species diversity as well as the viewing forecast. The park has a massive number of bird species such as Greater Scaup, White-naped Woodpecker, Palla’s Fish Eagle, Black-bellied Tern, Northern Goshawk, Black-necked Stork, Great Hornbill, nowy-browned Flycatcher, Yellow-billed Blue Magpie, Tytler’s Leaf Warbler, Pale-footed Bush Warbler, Scaly Thrush, Rusty-flanked Treecreeper, Reed Bunting, and Green Avadavat.

History

Rajaji National Park is a famous tiger reserve in India that is spread over an area of 820 sq. km. It is so huge that it covers Haridwar, Pauri Garhwal and Dehradun, i.e. 3 districts of Uttarakhand. It has been named after C. Rajagopalachari, who is known to have received Bharat Ratna, leader of Freedom Struggle and the second and last Governor-General of India. It was on 15 April 2015 that Rajaji (Uttarakhand) was declared as a tiger reserve.
